Welcome Home to Rio Vista, Texas

Rio Vista, TX, is a small rural community located in Johnson County south of Cleburne. Various historic markers dot the landscape here, including those along the Chisholm Trail just west of town. Current population here is just 854, but that number has grown more than 30 percent in the past 10 years. The city covers less than one square mile, with plenty of open land to allow for ongoing development. For residents looking for a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, Rio Vista provides the perfect haven. It is just seven miles from Cleburne, 34 miles from Fort Worth and 51 miles from Dallas.

Although rural in nature, Rio Vista has three schools, stores and gas stations, nearby Walls Regional Hospital (in Cleburne) and Lake Pat Cleburne. Living the good life in this laid- back country setting, residents avoid the stress of metropolitan living in favor of arguing over how to pronounce Rio Vista. Although it is Spanish for "river view," the tradition has been to call it RYE-Vista, dropping the "o" altogether. But no matter how you say it, Rio Vista is a great place to call home.
